About the Wine Club

The Wine Club is dedicated to improving the lives of the members in all aspects relating to wine. The Wine Club is the largest student group at Chicago Booth and we welcome new members who are interested in learning more about wine.

We usually sponsor or host 6 to 8 events per quarter, including wine tastings, food pairings, wine dinners, and annual trips to Napa Valley and abroad. At our events, we hope to give members a deeper knowledge of wine tasting techniques, wine regions, grapes varietals and the wine production process. We hope members will become more savvy oenophiles and have a lot of fun too!

Events take place at the Harper Center as well as all around Chicago. We will visit some of our favorite wine bars and wine shops for exclusive tastings. Events that involve pairing wine with food are often held at some of Chicago's finest restaurants. We put on at least one "Open that Bottle Night" (a "wine potluck" event) each quarter, where members can share their favorite wines with each other. Finally, we bring in acclaimed wine makers who allow us to sample their personal creations - for instance, last year we hosted Fred Scherrer of Scherrer Winery in Sonoma Valley and Jack Cakebread of Napa Valley's Cakebread Cellars.
